When Selecting Your Mattress Size

Most customers who have had their mattress set for many years are surprised when shopping at the heights of the current mattresses. Mattresses used to be only about 8" in height. The mattress heights today are from 11" to 18" depending on the comfort level selected. Stearn's & Foster, Sealy Posturepedic, Serta, Englander, Tempur-pedic and Simmons Beautyrest all offer foundations or boxsprings in two different heights to help with this industry change.

When selecting a mattress and boxspring it is important to check the mattress height and foundation height to ensure that the mattress set is the proper height. A metal bedframe is normally 7 " from the floor and many beds can be as much as 10" from the floor. The boxspring will come in a 9 " height and also in a 5" height. If you own a bed that you are placing your mattress and foundation on you do not want the height of the two pieces to take away from the beauty of your headboard and/or footboard.
